With easier and faster problem detection, it also means faster troubleshooting.  As long as you have your computer turned on and its remote access enabled, you can access your computer from your office through remote desktop support and print documents there as if you were right in your home working with your home computer.

It should be clear, however, that this service does not automatically provides control access to all approved remote access. Remote desktop support employs two kinds of access. The first one is control access, which should be the case for troubleshooting, wherein a remote user can open, change or manipulate desktop contents. The second type of access is view access wherein a remote user is only allowed to view certain desktop contents but will not be able to change or edit them.

Visiting a computer encountering a problem can be a hassle for system administrators that is why through this service they can diagnose problems and repair them even without personally visiting an affected computer.

Disadvantages of remote desktop support

The only disadvantage with remote desktop support when used is that it can slow down network connections.  It is more advisable to update to a later operating system to avail it without slowed-down connections. Microsoft has already improved this service to use less band-width and will not slow down network connections.
